Director of Youth Ministries
Serving Youth in Grades 6–12
Start Date: Ideally by August 15, 2025
Reports To: Head Pastor
Status: Part-Time (15–20 hours per week)
Position Summary:
We are seeking a relational, grounded, and visionary Part-Time Director of Youth
Ministries to lead and grow our ministry for youth in grades 6 through 12. This person
will be responsible for developing a vibrant, Christ-centered youth ministry that nurtures
internal spiritual growth and invites meaningful outreach—creating a safe and
welcoming space where students can thrive and bring their friends. We are looking for
someone with a heart for long-term ministry, ideally someone who feels called to this
area and to this type of work. Our hope is to find a candidate who has or is willing to
plant roots in our community, invest deeply in the lives of our youth, and help the
program and position expand over time as the ministry grows.
The ideal candidate has a strong biblical foundation, a heart for discipleship, and a
background in youth development. Leadership and administrative gifts are a strong
plus, along with the proven ability to build relationships and communicate effectively
with teens and parents alike.
This position collaborates with our volunteer youth committee and reports directly to the
Head Pastor.
Primary Responsibilities:
Youth Group Leadership
• Plan and lead the weekly youth group gathering, including biblical teaching, games, and discussion.
• Create and implement an annual discipleship plan for youth aligned with the church’s mission and vision.
Events and Outings
• Plan and coordinate special events, service projects, retreats, and trips (2–4 annually).
• Develop events that are both discipleship-oriented and outreach-friendly.
Leadership Development
• Recruit, train, and support volunteer leaders, remembering they are more than crowd control—equip them to lead, disciple, and connect meaningfully with youth.
• Empower volunteers to lead various parts of the youth ministry and invest in students.
Small Group & Mentorship Coordination
• Launch and maintain small groups, mentor groups, and/or interest-based groups.
• Recruit, train, and support adult leaders and mentors.
• Assign students to groups and check in consistently with mentors for
encouragement and guidance.
Worship & Church Integration
• Work with the Senior Pastor and Worship Director to involve youth in worship planning and leadership.
• Coordinate an annual Youth Sunday and additional opportunities for youth to participate throughout the year (e.g., scripture reading, music, tech).
Staff Collaboration
• Attend weekly staff meetings and meet regularly with the Senior Pastor for supervision and support.
• Be an active participant in the broader life of the church, including planning and supporting church-wide events.
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
• A mature, biblically rooted Christian faith and a desire to disciple teens.
• Experience in youth ministry or related education/child development fields.
• A natural ability to connect with teenagers, build trust, and maintain healthy boundaries.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• A collaborative spirit and willingness to partner with parents, staff, and volunteers.
• A desire to grow with the ministry long-term and contribute to its continued development and impact.
